- He only trained for about 8 years when his counterparts have received formal training for, on average, 12 years. This is evident in the lack of significant components in his routine like quadruple jump

- He struggled with asthma when he started to learn skating, but his health improved over the years
- He was injured four times between 2009 to 2012 but he recovered and emerged
